    Miss USA, Teen USA & Universe Are 'Best Buddies'

    The non-profit organization Best Buddies, which works tirelessly to foster and establish friendships and employment opportunities for people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, teamed up with SoulCycle, an inspirational and motivational exercise and spinning organization, to raise money and awareness for Best Buddies on February 20 in New York City.

    The 59th Annual Viennese Opera Ball at the Waldorf

    For the better part of six decades, the Waldorf Astoria’s grand ballroom has reverted to the 1800s for the Viennese Opera Ball in New York around this time of year.

    Debutantes in white dresses swirl through traditional dances as diplomats, musicians and business leaders enjoy the scene from dinner tables. A horse-drawn carriage carrying opera singers steals the spotlight before couples dressed to the nines take to ballroom dancing.

    On Friday night, Miss Teen USA 2013 Cassidy Wolf, 19 attended the charitable gala, which, for the first time, benefited Carnegie Hall.

    Valentine visitors bring cheer to veterans

    The Robinsons were among a group of veterans and their family members who heard grateful words from Miss USA, Erin Brady, as well as patriotic songs from Bronx students. State Sen. Jeff Klein organized the event, which was in its 19th year.

    “It’s amazing to me what you’ve sacrificed and all of the horrible things that you’ve seen, and yet you have such a positive attitude and you’re able to put a smile on your face every day,” said Ms. Brady, whose presence at the Feb. 14 event evoked a U.S. military tradition of glamorous entertainers and personalities succoring the troops.

    Instead of gorgeous amazons sashaying down the runway, the designer had real women with a mind for business walking in her line of career-oriented fashion. Along with Nana, media executives, entrepreneurs and a host of other savvy women took to the catwalk.

    “We are looking for role models, not models. This show has women who have worked hard to get where they are and are still aspiring to do big things,” Nana explained to Healthy Hollywood.
