Jimmy Nguyen


Jimmy Nguyen is a prominent entertainment and digital media lawyer, diversity advocate, blogger, and technology advisor. With a history of excelling early, Nguyen graduated college at age 19 and law school at age 22. At only age 36, he was named by Lawdragon as one of the 500 Leading Lawyers in America. In 2012, The Huffington Post listed Nguyen as one of the “Most Influential LGBT Asian Icons.”

In his law life, Nguyen is a partner at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, where he handles a range of entertainment, digital media, intellectual property, advertising, and technology matters. Nguyen’s clients have included leading companies such as Amazon.com; BBC Worldwide Americas; Fandango; the Hot Topic retail chain; Kia Motors America; LEGO Systems; Major League Baseball Properties; Microsoft; Monster Energy Company; Sony Pictures Entertainment; and even figure skating star Johnny Weir.

A national speech champion in college, Nguyen is a gifted public speaker and dynamic media commentator. Born in Saigon, Vietnam but raised in the United States, he uses his life journey as an immigrant, an Asian American and an openly gay man to advocate for diversity and equal rights. At his web site www.JimmyWin.com and for digital outlets such as The Huffington Post, Nguyen writes about diversity and innovation issues, and hosts his “Speak Up with Jimmy” web series. He founded the DiverseStory Project (www.diversestory.org), an online campaign to make the world more inclusive by encouraging people to tell their stories. For many years, he has served on the Board of Directors for the California Minority Counsel Program - advocating for diversity in the legal profession. Working to advance LGBT rights, he previously served on the Board of Equality California.

In the world of performance arts, Nguyen co-founded the American Readers Theater Association. He is a creative producer for “it gets better”, a touring musical theater stage work based upon the renowned IT GETS BETTER PROJECT to combat bullying of LGBT youth. He is an associate producer of “Alec Mapa: Baby Daddy” – the filmed version of actor/comedian’s acclaimed one-man show. Nguyen is currently developing other media and technology projects.
